What to bring

  • Your own yoga mat. Yoga mats are available at the studio for purchase or rental.
  • Your own large towel to place on your mat. Towels can be rented for $2 each.
  • A water bottle or sports bottle.
  • Clothing: Sleeveless top or lightweight t-shirt; athletic or bike shorts are probably the most comfortable. Please avoid pants with legs below knee-length.
  • Your positive attitude and open mind!

When you get here

Please remove your shoes at the entrance lobby.

We will ask you to complete a registration form and sign in. If you have any particular goals, or are pregnant, have any injuries or taking any medication, please let us know.

The only items you should take into the studio are your mat, your towel, and your water. There are lockers for your convenience and safe keeping of any valuables.

Before and after class please respect and enjoy the silence of the yoga room.

In class

Classes are 90 minutes. It is better to lie down and relax than to leave the class. If it's necessary, please return to the room when class is in savasana rather than in a posture.

Be mindful of your neighbour's space and visibility in the mirror.

No water is taken until after the third posture (Eagle Pose Garurasana).

It's normal to sometimes feel overwhelmed. Calm your breath and heart rate by standing still and breathing in and out through your nose.

Every posture requires different aspects of strength, flexibility and balance. You will find some postures easier than others, but you will get the full benefit by doing the best you can in each posture.

Your body doesn't judge or criticize. Learn from your body and release any expectations. Just be.

After class

Stay in the room in the final relaxation pose (savasana) for 2-5 minutes. Allowing time for your heart rate and breath to slow down helps to integrate all the work you have done in the class.

Leave the room in silence so as not to disturb other students.

Feel free to approach the instructor after the class with any questions.

The next few days

New students usually respond in various ways. You may feel energized, tired, or a little sore and stiff. In each case, the best thing you can do is to get back into the yoga room!

Take at least three classes in your first week – you’ll adapt quickly to the heated room, and start noticing the benefits of the yoga within days.

Within two weeks, you will notice the positive changes in your strength, flexibility, and attitude.

Bikram Yoga is fun and it works. Remember that this yoga is powerful and challenging, and pace yourself; don't force yourself. Don't expect to be perfect overnight!

If you're experiencing health or emotional issues, yoga will support you, so come as often as you can.

It's our job to push you to achieve your best and your responsibility to know what is enough for your body on any given day. Respect your limits and expect those limits to change. Do your best.

The harder this yoga is for you the more you need it and the more you will get out of it. It's the very best thing you can do for your health, body, vitality, and your sense of well being.
